Muscle Contraction

December 29, 2007 at 9:57 am (Personal Blog, When In Poland)

So i just found out what the most wonderfull way to wake up is. I’m not sure what it’s called, but if i call it a invoulentary muscle contraction, you will get the picture. It’s the thing you get sometimes when you are swimming, basicaly one of your muscles contracts against your will to the point where it hurts.

But that’s not what woke me up, not the pain. I woke up a second before with the though ‘Oh crap i’m going to get one of those in a second’, and i did. First i could feel, or at least i thought i felt, as one of my muscle moves against the others in an unnatural way, and then my foot kindof moved, and then it couldyn’t move any more and the pain started. I don’t know how many of you watch House MD, but if some of you remember the episode with the Ipicac drinking bullemic buisnesswoman, that’s more or less how it felt.

Fortunatly i’ve had my fair share of these and i know how to handle them. Basicaly you have to work against it, if your foot wants to move down, you have to muster all your strength and move it up. Hurts like hell but goes away after just a few seconds.

Anyway, still stuck in Poland, but i have a ticket for sunday. Hopefully the weather (which is perfect right now, cold cold cold and sunny, no clouds) will stay this way so that my plane can take off ^^

See you later

What Kind of Drink Are You?

You are a Fine Glass of Wine. You are sophisticated and refined, but also complicated and hard to deal with. Not everyone loves you, but those who do swear that you’re the coolest thing since sliced bread. One of these days the people that matter will understand you. Until then, you will be sitting on your throne as the distinguished product that not everyone has the taste to appreciate.

We might be slightly delayed

December 28, 2007 at 12:40 pm (Personal Blog, When In Poland)

Soo maybe some of you know that Poland has been hit by a very heavy wave of mists. It’s in fact so heavy that most flight got canceled, amongst them mine. I went to Katowice at 3pm to arrive at 7. At that point the only information was that the flight was Delayed, so they made us wait until i think 11pm. That’s when the flight, one of many, got cancelled.

Many people from Poland go to Ireland and England for work, meaning that there were 5 flights going from that airport that evening. 4 of them were going to the British islands, and were fully booked. The fifth one was mine, and we were not that many. All the flights got cancelled, creating a very long queue to the booking office, as all the ppl stood in line to get a refund, organise transport, or whatever. My flight got canceled last, so it placed me in the end of the line. Fortunately enough i managed to get a connection to the Hungarian office of the travel company, so that i could change my booking that way. Still had to stay there for an hour, so i was home around 2 am. The way back went faster due to lack of traffic.

So i’m stuck here for a couple of more days, at least until Sunday. Hopefully the weather will get better until then. But to be honest i don’t really mind staying here, i like being here. Only problem is that i have schoolwork to do, so i’ll be spending my time in front of the laptop. Thanks to my friend Ahrens who was nice enough to send my my work files from my home computer.

I hope i’ll be home for New Years, i’m throwing a party. Hope i won’t miss my own party πŸ˜›

See you next time.

Oh nom nom nom indeed!

December 23, 2007 at 5:59 pm (Personal Blog, When In Poland)

WWAAAAGGGH so full O.o I didn’t know i could eat so much! Ok, ok, i know i promised i have a lot to write, so i’m going , but i have to start about writing about this dinner coz it was so excellent! Why was it excellent? Well, because of many things. And they are:

– Traditional polish restaurant: There’s something appealing in a building made of tree trunks, actually smelling of the forest, and that horrible horrible folk music.

– Imogen Heap’s “Speak For Yourself” : my second christmas present! And soooo good! In you face everybody that says i’m hard buying presents for πŸ˜› Somehow a guy (Matthew) i see once a year managed to completely surprise me with something totally wonderfully!

– Fresh baked bread with lard : It’s a spciality to eat bread with lard on it like butter. I never eaten it before coz it allways seemed disgusting to me before, but i felt inclined to try. It wasn’t all that bad, the crusty bits made it nice, and the bread was exelent.

– Fried Oscypki – oscypki is a polish highlander speciality, it was actually the topic of a big EU discussion while Poland was being accepted into the union, as they are prepared in what the EU calls unsanitary means. Non the less, they area a kind of very pale cheese which has a fibery texture. Usually you smoke it and eat it as a snack, very good, very salty, but some genious came up with the idea of frying them and serving with cranberry jam. Excellent!

– Red Barszcz – possibly pronounced borshcz by most of you outlanders, it’s a soup based on ‘chicken soup’ and…. aaaand…. red… eerr… beetroots. Apparently. Kalle checked it up for me, blame him if he was wrong. It’s the red kind-of root vegetable. The one they served here was with ears, a special kind of pierogi. Very spicy too, just how i like it!

– 15 pierogi – On the day before Christmas, Santa gave to me… 3 types of pirogi, 5 of each. I like properly made pierogi, you can’t buy them outside of Poland unless you have contacts. Although i must say i prefer them if you fry them after cooking giving them a nice outside crust. In case you are an cultural ignorant, or are simply unfortunate enough not to know what it is – pierogi are dough with different kinds of things on the inside, like white cheese and onion, making them ruskie pierogi.

– Apple cake with whipped cream and ice cream – Good old polish sharlotka πŸ™‚ Nice combination of warm cake and cold ice-cream. I was almost too full to eat it, but i managed!

– Harnas – Can’t pronounce it properly, and even if you are polish i won’t be surprised if you have never hear of it before today, neither have i! It’s a kind of warm wine that reminds me of the Swedish GlΓΆgg, but with a very strong ethanol cover on top, which is set on fire. My first fiery drink :3

So, there you have it! All the things that made this outing excellent πŸ™‚ I’ll write something more soon, i have to lie down and digest now -.- I am Cousken’s export culture.

A merry christmass in Poland, and a happy spelling mistake!

December 23, 2007 at 1:32 pm (Personal Blog, When In Poland)

Hello everybody!

Hope someone is acctualy reading my blog from time to time, because i feel this odd complulsion to keep writing. And i find myself having a lot to write about.

As you that know me may know i’m in Poland for Christmas, and most of the times i’m here i write some kind of blog or another to share my experiences with my friends, there’s allways a lot i want to share. Maybe that is why i come here for inspiration… Poland is a wonderfully country in it’s own way, even if it has a certain former soviet ‘skankyness’ as my friend Kalle likes to call it. Recently I’ve been particularly annoyed by many of my friends having prejudice against me and my country, so the more ammo for praising Poland. Don’t get my wrong, it’s not Eden or something, but it’s nothing like some people think. Believe it or not some of my friends actually said they will never visit Poland because it’s too disgusting. On the other hand many have said they will gladly visit, most to fight their own prejudice. And all of those who actually went came back delighted.

I actually have a lot to write, about the frost covered scenery, horrible ferries, and my cancer ridden dog, but right now I’m running out of time. I’m meeting a friend of mine at a restaurant in 30 minutes, so i got to go. I prefer to post this than saving and then continue writing this, it’s just my way of doing things.

Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year πŸ™‚

Pay for custom CSS

December 18, 2007 at 2:00 pm (Personal Blog)

I just found out this service requires payment for custom CSS. I really want to have a blog with my own custom CSS sheet, but i’m not sure i want to pay for it right now. The tought of making my own Blog struck me, but i really do like the features of WordPress, such as cross-posting and the Snapshot thingy. I’ll definitley keep posting here and maybe in the future i will update this blog with a custom CSS….

Still haven’t got a camera, so here’s text

December 18, 2007 at 9:34 am (Personal Blog)

Hi

It’s been a while since i last posted, but that’s because i have a lot on my mind right now, with christmast just next week and my 3rd years ‘examination project’ already starting, somultaniously to normal classes.

I still haven’t got a camera, and now i know i won’t get one for christmass, so thing blog will probably remain a blog and not a vlog for a very long time.

I added a couple of sites to my Blogroll. Elise is a nice girl from my school who remixed my videos, i think you should check it out, it’s really cute πŸ™‚ Olle is the person whos blog i remixed. Kalle is a dear friend of mine who does interesting posts, so go there and check it out πŸ˜›

Today i’m going to try and change the layout of my blog. It’s a sort of a warm up before i start working on my portfolio, i haven’t gotten around to it yet. I need it as a designers portfolio is as important as he CV.

Here's a little something to keep this post visuali interesting. Unfortunatley i took it with ISO 1600 -.-
